Local Mural Ideas

A meeting will be held at Price Hill Will on Thursday, August 16th, to discuss the creation of a mural somewhere in East Price Hill. More details regarding the meeting and project are at the Community Press.

ArtWorks will be painting the mural as part of their MuralWorks program. Photos of their work from other local neighborhoods are available on their site.

I thought I has read that the mural would go at 3206 Warsaw, which is a building owned by Imago. On August 1 City Council passed a notwithstanding ordinance authorizing B&I to issue permits for that site as well as nine others.

That’s possible. I’m only going by the articles I read.

I have mixed feelings about projects like these. Sometimes it seems like a way for companies or property owners to get hand out in the name of “helping the neighborhood,” when in reality they just don’t want to fork out the cash to make their building look presentable.

This isn’t to say it can’t be executed and yield good results. We’ll see…

    Hi
I know that there is a local non-profit inner city youth program called BLOC (see blochead.org) which is currently renovating a store on Price Ave near Holy Family School to open a coffee shop in the Fall. They have a large wall facing the school/church which is begging for a mural and since they are a nonprofit organization helping urban youth, they can use all the help they can get.
