The front page article in The Cincinnati Enquirer today was a terrible tragedy about a suicide/homicide that took place in Delhi. What should have been a simple story that informs the public and consoles the surrounding neighborhoods, instead turns sour. The author(s) misplace their integrity with some cheap shots at Price Hill through a quote from an ignorant 15 year old.
Travis Wilson, 15, who lives around the corner on Clarevalley Drive, heard gunshots but didn’t believe it.
“I thought it was fireworks, and then I heard the sirens,” he said. “It’s crazy. Maybe you’d think this would happen in Price Hill, but not in Delhi.”
That line adds nothing to the story and really makes the author(s) appear shoddy. If they wanted to write an editorial, make some space in the op/ed section, don’t spew dribble on the front page.
Contrary to what that boy has been told, you don’t hear gun shots in Price Hill. Nor would this tragedy be any more likely to occur in Price Hill (or any other suburb).
I would stop there, but…
The authors of the misguided article are:
BY SHARON COOLIDGE AND QUAN TRUONG SCOOLIDGE@ENQUIRER.COM AND QTRUONG@ENQUIRER.COM
A quick search on The Hamilton County Auditor’s web site shows that Ms. Coolidge lives in Delhi. I could be wrong. I wish I was. There could be more than one Sharon Coolidge, but I doubt it. Incidents like this have occurred too often and for some reason go by without apology.
There are people who care about their neighborhood. I think someone is jealous of Price Hill’s city view.
You can find the poorly written article here.
